Providing hands for rural areas
The Korean Food Promotion Institute((to be referred to as “Institute” hereafter) has come to take action to help the farm households of insufficient hands during the farming season. As the shortage of workers in rural areas was continuously issued, such as the introduction of foreign workers due to the influence of COVID-19 and the reduction of the volunteer workforce, the volunteers began to put into work at the institute level. On May 29, a total of nine institute employees visited the pear farm in Sejong City to support the work.
On May 29th, the main task of the staff of the institute, which went to help farmers in the farming season of Sejong City, was to cover a “bag" on pear!”. It is said that in normal farmhouses, bags are usually placed about 35 to 45 days after pear blossoms in full. This work can prevent pests and birds from pecking at the pears and improve the product quality improving the color of the pear so that 'covering a bag on pear' is not an easy but very important work.

The institute hope that all Korean farmers, including the farmers who were helped by Institute, will cope with the difficult times together, and the Institute will also continue to create opportunities to coexist and cooperate through continuous exchanges with local farmers.
