Chungcheongnam-do with Korea's lowest topography and fertile plains produces many rices. Fruit orchards are widely distributed in the northern region with lots of hills, and fisheries are developed in areas in contact with the west coast. Therefore, when I think of cities in Chungcheongnam-do, various crops and seafood come to mind together. Nevertheless, if any special products in Chungcheongnam-do are suggested now, it would be Deaha which greets its perfect season.

Anmyeondo Baeksajanghanghang Daeha festival

Anmyeondo Island is a place where the water is clear with fine sand, even though it is located on the west coast where there are many mud. Perhaps due to the heavenly natural environment, daeha here has excellent plain and aromatic taste. It is also popular for its unique chewy texture.
Located at the northern end of Anmyeon-eup, Baeksajanghang is the largest collection site of natural daeha. This year, the festival does not seem to be held due to the covid-19, but you can enjoy a sweet and delicious daeha at the "Anmyeondo Baeksajanghang Daeha Festival" every October. In particular, you can enjoy exceptional experiences such as catching Jumbo daeha with bare hands, as well as various shrimps such as white shrimp and tiger prawns that look similar to a daeha.

Hongseong Namdanghang Daeha Festival

Namdanghang, which belongs to top 8 views of Hongseong, is a clean fishing port located in the narrow and long Cheonsuman Bay between Seoan and Anmyeon-do, Chungnam. At Namdanghang, you can always enjoy the blue sea and fresh seafood such as rock fish, cockle, blue crab and shrimp in any seasons, making your eyes and mouth happy.
In particular, in October, gourmets from all over the country visit continuously here in search of daeha. In the festival every year, you can purchase fresh seafood at reasonable prices along with a variety of programs such as catching daeha with bare hands. Unfortunately, the festival was canceled for safety this year, but let's look forward to the next year.
