Mark Korean Food menu in foreign language correctly
Distribution of <International Korean Menu Guide>

Foreigners' love and popularity for Korean food is steadily increasing. However, the translation of Korean food menus is not easy because not only the ingredients of the food but also the cultural context of the food must be considered. Perhaps that's why there are cases where Korean restaurants have different ways of labeling Korean food menus in foreign languages, or use inappropriate expressions and create confusion.
Recognizing this point, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Food Promotion Institute have been compiling the <Korean Food Menu Foreign Language Marking Guide 700> since 2017 to help Korean restaurants easily and accurately mark Korean menus. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Korean Food Promotion Institute, and Food, Cooking, Foreign Language experts participated in the translation, and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Institute of Korean Language, and Korea Tourism Organization consists of menu labels and short descriptions translated into four languages: Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese, and photos. The <International Korean Menu Guide> which will be newly distributed in 2021, introduces the booklet <Korean Food Menu Foreign Language Indication Guide 700>, and guides how to search and utilize Korean food menu foreign language indicators in various environments such as PC and mobile.

<International Korean Menu Guide> will be distributed to overseas Korean restaurant consultative bodies, Korean food-related organizations, cities, provinces, and counties, and safe restaurants in Daegu and Jeollanam-do(Korea Total Tourism Package Project Promoting Area). You can easily use it online by accessing the Korean food portal site (http://hansik.or.kr) and clicking on Foreign Language Notation in the "Frequently Found Menu" on the bottom right. It can also be downloaded through a mobile app and used easily.
