Three Excellent Overseas Korean Restaurants in Paris and London
HANSIK & People
In an era where Korean flavors can be found anywhere in the world, the importance of having authoritative standards to validate the essence of Hansik (Korean cuisine) has become even greater. Since 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Food Promotion Institute have been implementing the ‘Designated Excellent Overseas Korean Restaurants’ project to designate excellent Korean restaurants that have contributed to promoting Hansik globally.
In July, three Korean restaurants were newly added to the ‘Excellent Overseas Korean Restaurants’ list: Sollip in London, and SAM CHIC and JIUM in Paris. Below is an introduction to these three ‘K-Michelin’ Korean restaurants, which are sharing the flavors and appeal of Hansik while enhancing its global status and recognition.

London’s First Excellent Overseas Korean Restaurant
Sollip
Located near Tower Bridge in London, Sollip is a fine dining restaurant that offers a fusion of Hansik, blending traditional Korean flavors with Western culinary techniques and presentation. The restaurant's unique name is derived from pine leaves, which are used in traditional Korean cooking to control fire and smoke. Just as pine leaves are used for the most meticulous cooking, Sollip aims to serve every guest with carefully prepared, high-quality dishes.
Sollip is highly acclaimed for its diverse menu featuring a variety of Korean ingredients such as rice, maesaengi (seaweed fulvescens), omija (five-flavor berry), pine nuts, kelp, and gochujang (red chili paste). Since 2022, it has consistently earned a Michelin 1-star rating and has achieved excellent results in various international restaurant awards, demonstrating its impressive performance and global recognition.

The restaurant’s interior, which incorporates elements of traditional Korean culture, is also noteworthy.
