Korean and Turkish cultures have many similarities owing to the Central Asian origins of both
Both nations’ languages belong to the same family, the Ural-Altai. There are similar or even
common dishes in each other’s national cuisine such as the Turkish Manti and the Korean Mandu.
Another similarity of both food cultures can be seen in the fermented food. Both nations have rich
Varieties of fermented foods. Yogurt has been introduced to the world by Turks. There are also
different varieties of chees in the daily Turkish diet. Korean cuisine on the other hand, boasts
plant-based fermented foods such as beans.
Another interesting commonality between the two cultures is the tradition of Buh a in Turkey and
Bojagi in Korea. Traditionally, in both cultures, wrapping clothes are widely used for presenting
Gifts, organizing cabinets in small spaces as well as for carrying goods. The resemblances between the two traditions are very striking. They are used in daily rituals as well as special
ceremonies, including religious purpose for better fortunes or simply for etiquette and formality
In celebration of the longstanding Korean-Turkish friendship and to discover the interesting
Similarities between the two brotherly/sisterly nations, we have the pleasure of inviting you to our
